The Day Heero met a
Dinosaur (and got his gun back all at the same time) ^_^
by Marie
~~~
Author's notes: Okay, this came about because I
used to be obsessed with Jurassic Park a LONG time ago, and so on
principle I dragged ALL of my friends to see JP3, whether they
wanted to or not. Then the very next day while walking about
Chinatown I began to ramble about how cool a crossover of that
sort would be. Our conversation went something like this:
Marie: Could you imagine if Heero was stuck on Jurassic Park?
Friend #1(Jerri): The poor dinosaurs!
And it went from there. *lol* So now I'm posting what I've got so
far. Many thanks to my friends Zoi_no_miko and Jerri for plot
input and ideas. Oh yeah and in this fic *everybody* comes along
for the ride... how many GW boys can you put on an island full of
hungry dinosaurs??? O_o
Disclaimer: Not mine... I don't own Jurassic
Park or Gundam Wing. >_< I'm not making any money off of
this.
Enjoy! :D
Isla Something-or-other, Somewhere in the South Pacific
A pause, and then a word written in HUGE red lettering stamps
over the name of the Island.
RESTRICTED!!
~~~
She ran. She ran until her legs felt like led and her lungs felt
like they were burning acid. And then she ran some more. She
couldn't stop, because if she did, it would get her, the whatever
it was behind her. It had already gotten her dog, gulped it down
in one huge bite it did. It was about then that she had decided
that running would be a very good thing.
She didn't even have time to think clearly as she noted the
narrow space in between the trees in front of her, merely leapt
between them, not caring that the branches tore at her cloths and
caused her hat to go flying off behind her. She landed in a
crouch on the opposite side, gasping for breath and watching with
horror as a flash of huge teeth ripped at the white linen of her
hat and tore it quite to pieces. The ground shook audibly as the
enormous creature rammed his head against the equally large trees
she was behind, causing broken bits of foliage the size of her
body rain down towards her like twigs. She cried out, covering
her head from the beset from above...

Relena had to be destroyed. No big deal right?
Wrong. Glaring at his expression in the mirror, Heero Yuy tried
to convince himself that nothing mattered.
"I want to die." He tried. His expression didn't
change.
"But I can't. I must complete the mission." Still no
change.
"I must kill my enemy." Nada with that one either.
"My enemy is Relena Peacecraft." A slight eyebrow
twitch, but otherwise nothing. "I must kill Relena
Peacecraft." Another eyebrow twitch, which irritated him
immensely.
"I can not kill Relena Peacecraft." Deadened silence
gripped the room. That *wasn't* what he was supposed to say.
Absolute fury over took the expression on his face. "WHAT IS
WRONG WITH ME???" He shouted at his reflection.
The mirror shattered.
Heero Yuy stared at it, confused. He hadn't even touched the
mirror. What on earth could have caused it to shatter like that?
And then he noticed his hand... or what he held in his hand. His
gun. There was now a hole in the mirror right about where the
middle of his reflected forehead had been, and a spiderweb of
fractures extended out and away from it.
Eyebrow twitching like you wouldn't believe, Heero let out a
really creepy manic laugh, stuffing his gun in the back of his
pants. Deciding that he had done enough of playing with his
emotions for one day, he walked from the bathroom to the main
room and began to pack his bag. He had a mission to find and
destroy Relena Peacecraft. He had all the mission perimeters.
Apparently the last time the girl had been seen was on her way to
an island in the middle of the south pacific, (where she was to
be shooting some promotional end credits for some War Documenting
broadcast. It was supposed to be pro-peace as well, which was why
she was asked to do it in the first place, being the survivor of
the Peacecraft line. Hahaha. ^_^) Heero's lips curved up into a
slight smirk.
"I will kill you Relena." He said with a heck of a lot
more conviction than a moment ago.
She would never get off that island alive.

The Gundam 02, (also known as Deathscythe) rounded on the Gundam
01 (also known as Wing.) "Soooo.... you've been given that
place as a target as well, have you?" Duo Maxwell smirked.
He pulling his Gundam in line with the other, very obviously
trying to show up the pilot of Gundam 01.
Heero merely raised an eyebrow. "Hn." He replied.
Duo's smirk grew. "All right!" he laughed. "I'll
race you to the island!!" True to his words, Deathscythe
shot forwards, ahead of the other Gundam, the blue ocean a blur
below him. He laughed back as his fellow Gundam pilot.
Heero stared after him. He didn't quite understand *why* Duo
Maxwell was here in the first place... after all he was perfectly
capable of killing Relena Peacecraft himself, when it clicked in
his mind that he had been issued a challenge. Not to be showed
up, Heero raced after his opponent, irritation evident on his
face. "Hn."
~~~
He had no idea where he was, and he was terrified. Crouching
silently in the tree, Trowa Barton stared down at the creature
below him, wincing as it snapped and snarled up at him.
"Good, good... uh..." he tried, but his mind pulled a
blank. He had no idea what the creature was in the first place...
it looked sort of like a big lizard. With lots of teeth and
claws. And a long tail that balanced the creature out behind it.
But it wasn't a lizard... of that he was sure, because lizards,
as far as he could remember, (and he couldn't remember much,
seeing as he had no idea how he got here in the first place) were
not that big. Eyes wide, he shifted position in the tree,
determined to get to some place higher, then gasped as he lost
his footing.
For a split second he fell and the creatures below him snapped
hungrily at his head. He cried out, sure that he was about to
die, when his foot caught on a vine wrapped around the underside
of the tree. It was just enough leverage to swing himself free
with a twist of his body, and not even very aware of what he was
doing, Trowa suddenly found himself upright again, balancing
precariously on the tree limb he had just slipped from, his arms
held out for balance. He blinked.
The creatures below him seemed to blink as well. At least they
had stopped snapping up at him, and seemed content to just mill
around below him. An odd chirping like sound drifted to his ears
from elsewhere in the surrounding jungle and Trowa perked his
head in that precise direction, as did the creatures below him.
Trowa returned his gaze to the creatures below, watching as they
chirped and growled among themselves for a moment until one by
one they disappeared into the dark foliage.
Letting out a sigh of relief, Trowa slumped against the tree's
trunk, hugging himself with fear. He was so confused... he didn't
know where he was or how he got here...
"So cold..." he muttered, shivering.
~~~
"I can't believe..." Duo Maxwell was saying, coughing
out a lungful of water and wringing out his black cap he always
wore. "I can't *believe* you crashed the Gundams!!" He
swung his arms wide, flinging water all about as he motioned
wildly to indicate his disbelief. "What were you thinking
anyway? You think it's EASY to swim 50 feet underwater just to
get back in them? Because right now there isn't anyone around to
get them out for us ya know buddy...!!"
Heero picked himself up from the rock a wave had kindly deposited
him on like being washed up by a wave after a Gundam crash was
something that happened to him every day. He took his time making
sure that his gun was still safely stuck in the back of his
pants, and then he glared at Duo. "I did that on
purpose." He said.
Duo stared. He stared at Heero like he had suddenly grown two
heads, and then he stared some more. "What on earth
FOR???" He demanded to know.
Silence. Then... "So they won't be detected. It's a small
island." He raised his head, inspecting the small rocky
climb they had before the beach disappeared into the jungle
beyond. He began to make his way towards it.
Duo opened his mouth in absolute disbelief, then closed it again
when he realized that Heero wasn't going to offer up any further
explanation. "Ah MAN Heero," he said, running after his
spandex wearing friend. "There had to be a cave or something
to hide them in. Or the jungle! What about the jungle Heero, ever
think of that??" He continued to rant until he was right
behind the other boy, stopping short suddenly as he realized that
Heero was holding out his arm to stop him from going any further.
Duo blinked.
"What is it man?" He asked.
"Shh." Heero glared. He stood still for a while,
leaving Duo to be the one to shift from foot to foot. It took a
while, but then Duo heard it as well.
A thump. A pause. Another thump, this one sounding a might bit
closer to them. Another pause and then another thump.
Duo's brow creased. "What on earth is that?" He asked.
Yet another thump sounded, this one quite audible and loud to
Duo's ears. A pause.
"I don't know." Heero said. He removed his gun suddenly
and began to run in the direction of the jungle in front of them.
"Hey!" Duo shouted after him, wincing as a muffled roar
sounded from the exact direction in which Heero was running. That
didn't *sound* friendly... in fact it sounded quite lethal.
"HEY!! Shouldn't we be running in the opposite direction?
HEY WE DON'T HAVE OUR SUITS REMEMBER??! COME BACK HERE!!"
Cursing, Duo ran after Heero, braid flying out behind him.

A drive for food and for shelter was what finally brought Trowa
down from the tree. Shivering against the tropical winds that
whipped his ridiculous bang to and fro, he reached the edge of
the jungle, blinking as he saw a plain stretching out in front of
him. It would have been all good and Trowa may have started
across it happily, except for the fact that the plain wasn't
empty.... it was full. Of creatures. They had the same kind of
leathery skin that the creatures that had drove him up into the
tree had... but they were so much more... bigger...
A chirp from the jungle behind him made him jump, and he
scampered out further into the plain, dodging unsteadily between
massive legs. As he did so the creatures ignored him, providing
him safe passage around them... at least until a sound from the
sky made them look up and call out to each other in alarm.
Eyes wide, Trowa followed their cause of distress. A large
airplane was coming down towards them at a swift rate and
suddenly the animals around him spooked. Trowa dodged as feet
thundered about him, coming dangerously close to crushing him. He
yelled out and coughed as dust welled up around him, the pounding
of feet loud in his ears. Once again he was sure that he was
about to die when something hit him broad side, causing him to
roll.
Almost as soon as it had happened it was over and Trowa stood
again on shaky legs. The plane had landed as well and he watched
warily as a panel in it's side opened, and revealed a boy. He
looked about his age, but his hair was much more neater and blond
to boot. Smiling joyously the blond hopped down from the
transport vessel, hitting the ground in a run.
"Trowa!" He shouted. "Trowa! It's me! Quatre.
Remember? I'm so glad I've found you."
Trowa stared at him, beginning to shake visibly.
The blond haired boy reached him, face shining with joy.
"It's me, Trowa. I'm so glad." He said again a little
more softly.
Trowa stared. "I don't... I don't remember..." He
whispered. He felt like crying. He had no idea what was going on
anymore. Who was this boy? Nothing made sense to him.
For some reason odd reason the smiling blond boy looked like he
was about to cry as well. "Don't you remember me
Trowa?" He asked in a pleading voice. "Don't
you..."
A very loud noise from beyond them distracted him. It sounded
distinctly like a "Thump." Quatre turned, a curious
look on his face. "What was that?" he asked.
The thumping sound came again.
Trowa had no idea what was causing the thumping, yet even though
he had no idea what it was and was very confused, Trowa wasn't
dumb and had a feeling that whatever it was wasn't very friendly.
"Perhaps you should get back into your plane?" he
suggested cautiously.
A very loud roaring sound met their ears. It seemed to decide
Quatre. Grasping Trowa's arm, he yanked him along with him.
"And you're coming with me!" he said, running for the
open hatch of the airplane.
Trowa had no protests.
~~~
I must be insane, Duo thought, grumbling as he ran after his
apparently suicidal friend. If it had been his choice, he
wouldn't be here right now, he'd be a thousand miles away. Not
running towards...
He skidded to a halt as he entered the clearing, seeing that
Heero had done the same. Violet eyes widened with disbelief as
Duo stared. "What the *heck* is that?!" he exclaimed at
the boy in front of him. What ever it was it was absolutely
huge... a monster of some sort... with a jaw lined with teeth and
legs as thick as tree trucks. "Heero?!" he questioned
loudly.
Heero merely shook his head, going down into a half crouch, his
gun drawn and pointed at the creature. Duo shook his head as
well, backing up a step. When the creature seemed to notice them
and let out an ear shattering roar, turning towards them, Duo
promptly decided his next course of action. "RUN for
it!" he yelled, taking his own advice and heading in the
opposite direction.
As he made for the trees and what he hoped was the relative
safely of the beach he could hear the sound of Heero's gun being
fired several times in rapid succession echo through the clearing
behind him.
~~~
The thumping sound continued loud in their ears as Quatre dove
for the controls of the air craft. "You take the other
seat!" he said, motioning wildly to the co-pilot's chair. At
the same time he hopped into the captain's chair, hands making
short work of the controls. Within seconds the aircraft hummed
back to life and began to move.
Trowa sat in the co-pilot's chair and stared at the controls in
front of him. He didn't remember exactly what he was supposed to
do with them, so he opted for the best thing for him to do. Trowa
just sat there. It turned out that just sitting there gave him an
excellent opportunity to merely observe the view screen. And what
he saw there caused his eyes to widen.
"Um, Quatre?" Trowa tried.
"Just a sec!" the littler pilot returned, pulling a
funny set of goggles down over his eyes. He reached forwards,
gripping the stick shift and causing the airplane to roll
forwards at a faster pace.
Trowa looked from the view screen to Quatre and then back again.
"Quatre!" he tried again.
The plane began to rise. "What is it Trowa?" the
smaller boy asked, turning wide blue eyes on his amnesiac fellow
pilot.
For the first time in his life Trowa raised his voice above a
monotone. "LOOK OUT!!"
He turned suddenly and Quatre gasped as for a split second he saw
something very big out of the view screen of the airplane. No
matter how hard he tried to turn the aircraft it was too late and
they hit whatever it was, causing the plane to go into a short
spin. Teeth clenching, he gripped the controls, trying very hard
to bring the aircraft back under control. It was to no avail
though... and the trees of the jungle round about them were
coming towards them at a dangerously rapid pace....
"Hang on!" Quatre shouted, gripping the stick shift
like his life depended on it. An instant later the plane hit
foliage, the impact throwing both of the aircraft's occupants
back against the far wall of the cabin. The whole world seemed to
jar and spin until it finally stopped, on it's side.
There was silence for a moment, until finally Quatre decided that
no part of his body seemed to feel pain any worse than the other
and slowly picked himself up off the cabins... wall. Which was
now the floor apparently. "Trowa?" he choked out.
Trowa was slumped over a few feet away from him, still sitting in
the co-pilot's chair. A hand was clenched to his forehead. Upon
hearing Quatre's voice he looked up, green eye inspecting him
silently. "I..." He said slowly. "I... can
remember."
Quatre smile stretched from ear to ear. "Oh good!" he
coughed, clambering across the wrecked cabin towards Trowa.
"I'm so glad."
A thump sounded outside of the airplane, sounding dangerously
close to their location. Another thump followed it. And a roar.
And another thump, this one enough to make the whole entire cabin
rock slightly. The airplane shifted, plummeting for an instant
before steadying out again at an all new angle.
Quatre and Trowa looked at each other. "Perhaps it would be
a good time to get out of the airplane." Trowa suggested.
Quatre made for the hatch. "Good idea."

TBC!!!! *lol*
(I suppose I can post this here as a teaser for what's to come,
it's a Jerri inspired scene... we need a Wufei moment. ^_^)
Wufei stood proudly in front of his enemy, showing no fear into
the face of danger. "You are a coward!" He yelled at
it. "I hate fighting weak enemies."
The raptor merely circled him, showing no sign of wanting to back
away.
Wufei snorted. "Well then," he snapped, crouching down
in a fighter's stance. "Show me your integrity!"
The raptor in front of him hissed, crouching as well. He, being
the most intelligent and lethal of all the dinosaurs also had a
built in sense of honor. Resembling Trieze Kushrenada in that way
he knew when a challenge was one was being issued and he accepted
it gladly.
The raptor moved first, rushing his young opponent. Wufei was
quick to the defensive, launching himself upwards and hitting the
snarling creature in the jaw with a foot. The raptor returned
with a slash to the chest which missed Wufei by mere inches.
Wufei swung his arm out catching the raptor in the gut with an
elbow, to which the raptor swung it's body around, catching the
boy with his tail and launching Wufei against a tree.
Huffing slightly Wufei picked himself up again. The raptor
circled, and then with a yell Wufei launched himself at his
opponent again. Blood flew.
When the dust had settled and all was said and done, Wufei stood
alone, the whimpering raptor having vanished into the night.
"WEAKLING!!" Wufei shouted after it. Snorting, he
picked off and continued his trek in search of the research
facility where he was sure he could find what he needed to repair
his precious Nataku....
